Seahawks at VMAC

June 25th, 2010 at 11:20 am (Cool!)

All of our sales-folk at work were in Vegas this week, so some of us support types were given our own chance to party with one of our clients!  Three of my coworkers and I had a chance to see a Seahawks practice at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center (VMAC) in Renton, WA.

The place is huge and amazing.  They have three outdoor fields and an full-size, enclosed field made out of the safe turf that Qwest Field has.  After the practice we were treated to Famous Dave’s BBQ and a short VIP tour of the facility.

I was very impressed, even though I’m not a huge football fan.  I might even get to a game this season…

The highlight of the visit was meeting the hawk.  The Seahawks have a real Augur hawk fly out of the tunnel at each game, and he was at practice to get acclimated to the players for the coming season.  Apparently the African Augur Hawk is ideal for taming and using in these roles.  They’re very elegant and alert.  Here’s the official Seahawk’s blog post on the day.

Flying Wheels 2010

June 16th, 2010 at 4:53 pm (Family)

Dad, Mom, and I had a great time riding the Flying Wheels tour this past Saturday!  It was quite hilly, but a fun challenge.  The countryside was beautiful, riding through Sammamish, Duvall, Carnation, Fall City, and Issaquah.

The highest registration number I saw was 3,500 and the roads were packed all day.

STP is coming up soon; I hope my Dad and I will be ready!

Happy Riding :)

Party Like It’s 1773!

April 17th, 2009 at 7:56 pm (Political)

Kim and I attended our first protest!  It was pretty exciting, the official turn out was 1,200 at the Seattle Tea Party.  Olympia was the big one for the state at about 5,000.  I was even caught in a picture posted on The Boze Blog.  (Dave Boze is one of my favorite local talk hosts.)

You can’t see much of me, but I’m there.  Kim is to my right and you can see her hair and sunglasses too :)

The organizers were collecting for the Northwest Harvest food pantry.  We thought that was a nice touch.  We can take care of our own much better than the government can.

Cut the pork!

Ah… So funny :)

In other news… I know when I’m coming home! Kim is going down to D.C. to work on the Marriage Quilt at my aunt’s house. (She has a fancy quilting machine.) Kim’s driving down on the 24th, and I’ll fly into D.C. that morning. Then on the 26th we’re both driving back to Syracuse together!
